CRYSTAL GLASS REFLECTORS

Because of its unique optical, chemical and mechanical properties, glass is particularly well suited for use in sophisticated traffic technology. SWAREFLEX has been using high-quality, extremely robust and durable Swarovski special-purpose glass elements for its reflector products for decades.

SWAREFLEX glass reflectors work on the principle of retro-reflection: A bundle of light rays striking the biconvex glass elements is reflected back to its original place, regardless of the direction from which the light ray bundle hits the glass elements. To optimize reflectivity, the shape of the biconvex glass elements is calculated precisely using computer technology. The back of the glass elements used consists of a highly reflective silver mirror layer and additional special protection layers.

Principle of Retro-reflection

+ Reflector products from resistant Swarovski special-purpose glass elements

+ High quality, extremely robust and durable

+ Mode of operation: retro-reflection

+ Highly reflective silver mirror layer and additional protective layers

+ Very high resistance to environmental influences such as salt, UV radiation, sulfur

   dioxide and abrasion

In various comparative tests of the three reflector types (according to DIN EN 1463): glass reflectors (Type 1), plastic reflectors (type 2) and plastic reflectors with abrasion resistant protective layer (type 3), SWAREFLEX glass reflectors are the only reflector type with consistently good scores across all five test criteria. Each type was tested for its resistance to salt exposure, sulfur dioxide fumigation (Kesternich test), UV light irradiation (Arizona Sun Test), humidity (climate test) and abrasion.
